The Joe & Debbie Sakic Bringing Hope to the Table Celebration is one of Colorado’s most entertaining events. Held in August, this annual banquet, billed as an evening of “fun, food, and laughter,” raises money for the Food Bank of the Rockies’ children’s programs.
From an audio visual point of view, this was a particularly exciting event to manage. The gala was held at The Hanger at Stanley, the former site of the original Denver airport’s main runway. The facility encompasses a total of 18,500 square feet of dynamic event space, which is what allowed the Image AV team to take a unique approach to providing the presentations and audio at the event.
“This was an especially fun event,” said project manager Dave McGuire. “It was a chance to ‘play to the venue,’ this enormous, industrial space.”
The team of eight provided a wide array of AV services, including LED video screens and uplighting and sound. Because of the venue’s existing windows and natural lighting, the event space posed a video clarity challenge during the daylight or early evening events while the natural sunlight is still present. Image AV along with Food Bank of the Rockies made the decision to erect an LED Screen instead of the traditional projection screen displays that are often used. This provided peace of mind that all video content could be displayed and seen clearly with all of the ambient sunlight that is unavoidable at the venue.
“Our design was sleek and modern and fun,” McGuire said, “Being able to use such a unique venue’s special features was exciting and a bit out of the ordinary. It allowed us to be creative and push the envelope just a bit.”
