How Hotel’s Blocking Personal Wi-Fi Connections Could Affect Your Next Event, and the Solution.

In recent news, CNN reported how the FCC is cracking down on hotels blocking guests’ Wi-Fi connections during events, following a complaint from a hotel event attendee. The FCC’s responsibilities include maintaining decency standards designed to protect the public good. Enforcement Bureau Chief Travis LeBlanc stated in a recent press release regarding this matter, “It is unacceptable for any hotel to intentionally disable personal hotspots while also charging consumers and small businesses high fees to use the hotel’s own Wi-Fi network. This practice puts consumers in the untenable position of either paying twice for the same service or forgoing Internet access altogether.”
