Employee Spotlight: Simon Melser

In this months Employee Spotlight we are meeting Simon Melser, a long time veteran in the audio visual industry. Simon has been with the Image Audiovisuals team for a few months already in a Business Development capacity; and as he is learning the ropes here, we wanted to learn more about him in return.

Here are some of the interesting tidbits we found out:

With over 15 years of AV experience, what are some highlights so far?

Simon: “I’m a lifetime hospitality guy! I have worked all over the country, as well as overseas assignments. But one event that stands out in my mind immediately is when I had the honor of producing two events in Washington DC for President Bush’s inauguration.”

What sets ImageAV apart from the competition and makes you so passionate about your work?

Simon: “Having lived in Denver for nearly 20 years I have always known ImageAV and more importantly [the owners] Dave and Diana, and I have always respected their integrity and passion for what they do. Then I met Robin and the rest of the team and knew this was where I wanted to work. I can’t say it enough, it’s the people here…everybody is top notch. This team ‘gets it’ and realizes that we are in the hospitality business not just AV. Treat clients well and you keep them for life – it sounds cliche but that’s what we do here, and it works!!”

When you aren’t working what keeps you busy?

Simon: Cara, my partner in crime and I have 4 horses and 2 dogs at our ranch in Watkins. The ranch keeps us hopping so there is not much relaxing happening around here…but I love to horseback ride and work on the farm!! I also have a son, Brennan, who is studying business at Florida State…go Noles!!

Are you originally from Colorado, if not, what brought you out here?

Simon: I am originally from the south coast of England, but I moved to Vail 25 years ago to start a ski business. I then went to Dallas for a couple of years but missed Colorado with the sunshine, the outdoors, and the peace and quiet out where we live so much that had to come back home!

An extra fun fact that Simon shared with us is when he was living up in Vail, along with starting his ski company; he also ran a TV station where he had the opportunity to find a new hobby he thoroughly enjoyed, being the on-air talent!
